Ford Focus SVT
For 2004, the critically acclaimed SVT Focus continued to run circles around the sport compact segment with a long list of standard equipment and driving dynamics that peg the “fun-to-drive” meter. While some competitors were concentrating on going fast in a straight line, the SVT Focus delivered its world-class handling in both a three- and five-door bodystyle. SVT's high-revving, high-tech, dual overhead-cam four-cylinder engine put its 170 horsepower to the pavement via new 17-inch, 6-spoke alloy wheels with high-performance tires. The popular European Appearance Package became available this year in both 3- and 5-door configurations, again delivering all available options including a superb stereo/CD, a power sunroof, heated seats, high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights and Recaro seats – all backed by Ford's 100,000-mile/5-year powertrain Extended Service Plan+. While SVT was considering a turbocharged version, platform changes in the mainstream Ford Focus and the move to a new assembly facility prompted Ford product planners to suspend production of the SVT Focus after the 2004 model year.
